DIVINE:ZERO – this means „Modern Melodic Death Metal“: a distinct and recognizable blend of heaviness and melody. Since the release of the debut album "The Day God Left" in the year 2008 the national German underground scene and DIVINE:ZERO are not imaginable one without the other. In the past the band played with countless bands like Powerwolf, Fleshcrawl, Dew Scented, Drone, Born from Pain, The Very End, Motorjesus, Any given Day, Hate Squad and many more.
DIVINE:ZERO do not limit themselves to a particular style, but create a sound through the use of many influences of all styles of modern metal. In their songs one can recognize typical riffs of the 90ies as well as metal-sounds of the new millennium – always under the premise of sounding contemporary but not trendy.
The 10 songs of the upcoming album “The Cold Asylum” show DIVINE:ZERO’s more aggressive side. Even if the songs still show the band’s characteristic and indispensable twin-guitars, the musicians succeed here in extending the American sound that was featured faintly on the first record. The debut album’s taken way of avoiding clean vocals is pursued consequently on “the cold asylum”. Furthermore the omission of keyboards is also something to be mentioned, because it steadily keeps up the music’s level of aggression on the whole album. The album features a total of 10 tracks with a running time of over 40 minutes. The songs were recorded in collaboration with Achim Kaiser (also Motorjesus, Settle the Score, etc.). To make the band sound as natural as possible was a main goal. Therefore they deliberately avoided unnatural distractions of the band's sound by excessive editing and copy-and-paste methods. The album thrives on its naturalness and the captured live feeling.
