Bio is taken from the band's official site: "After a several centuries the unfortunate immortal are struck with an incurable sort of satiety. The world is monotonous, mankind will not learn and always slip back into the same mistakes and outrage within every generation, the incidents don't repeat but they're similar... no more novelty, no surprises, no revelation... The earth doesn't keep any more mysteries for me, and I lost all my hopes in my equals." Umberto Eco, "The Focault pendulum". [own translation] The Year 2001 is a year of rebirth and miscarriage. Thus, we're spread with remakes from the eighties over and over again. Also Dronning Maud Land rise from a phase of abstinence lasting five years. Having released three records (Aphorism, 1993; Alteration, 1994; Maelstrom, 1994) and playing all over Europe this klassic gothic-rock formation returns upon the stage of a music culture going wreck and ruin. With their new material Dronning Maud Land consequently continue their doing after their apparently definite split in 1996: emotions shake hands with hypnotic, progressive, almost conjuring rock-songs without drifting into derisority caused by brutality or pathos being out of place. Without calculation or virtuosity Dronning Maud Land come from the heart and hit the pit of your stomach. This band hasn't only revived, they reinvented themselves, still being mysterious and startling. Myspace page authors add the following updates -check the blog for more info-: There are two more CDs released under the moniker of Dronnig Maud Land, the "Bedlam" CD (2003) and the "The Essence Of A Decade-Part One" (2004) compilation CD.
