Riga in an audio/visual project born in 2003, composed of Martino Nencioni, Riccardo Pietroboni, Jacopo Barbaccia.
They are musicians and sound designers engaged in the creation of unusual sound paths. Their work takes shape through the use of various techniques such as field recording, combined with the programming of digital and analog audio sources. The result is a modern concept of acoustic space based on the formal recombination of ambient sound elements and synthetic. This constant research for timbre in sound habitat- contemporary experiential, stimulates complex and layered imaginary. Rarefied nebulous sounds, crossed by micro frequencies flux, alternate with rhythmic
compositions and walls of noise, where the sound horizon is permeated by a subtle but tenacious formal entropy.
Their livemedia are synaesthetic episodes where the immersion is dictated by the sensory audio visual consonance and from the internal balance between sound, space and time.
In recent years, Riga has participated in some of the most important audio visual national festival, winning in 2009 the “Elettrowave Challenge" as the best audio visual project.
In 2008 Riga published the first EP on Chew-Z.
In 2011 they released their first full length album “Escapism” on Chew-Z.
They have performed live in some festivals like: C Prayer (Milan), Videodrome (Milan), Tagofest (Marina di Massa), Audiovisiva (Milan), Homework (Bologna); Elettrowave (Livorno); Altavoz (Venice); Pre Final-Fest (Rome); Maximal (Milan); ExhiBIt (Venice). They toured in Italy with Sieben and Matt Howden in 2005.
