Since forming in Memphis in 2005 we've been on a mission to produce powerful, meaningful, and downright honest rock fueled by explosive, evocative, guitar-driven sound led by driving vocals. We're Surrender the Fall.
JARED COLE
As a teen, Jared would play so much guitar he would have to use a razor blade to cut the callouses off his fingertips just so he could feel the strings. By the time he graduated high school, Jared was already playing out of town shows. His seasoned vocal stylings range from aggressive and driving to soft and melodic. (Even before the guitar, this Memphis born and bred boy sang in the school choir.)
In early 2005, it was Jared who reached out to talented musicians with the concept of Surrender the Fall. Though this self-proclaimed sideburn enthusiast is too humble to admit it, anyone who knows will tell you that Jared’s also a very gifted lyricist. And hardly the “my way or the highway” type, Jared encourages feedback and input from and between his bandmates.
EDDIE TYRE
This Louisiana gentleman and tremendously talented guitar player began mastering his craft during his early teenage years. A lifelong baseball player, Eddie also has years of kung fu under his belt. Shortly after he was married, the Mr. & Mrs. found their way to Memphis after losing everything – including their newly remodeled home – to Hurricane Katrina.
Though a tough call, he claims his most critical influence is Metallica. His favorite piece by said rock metal legends is Master of Puppets, but he and his wife had their first wedding dance to Nothing Else Matters. (Strong work, Eddie.) This kind-hearted, hard worker will take any opportunity to go see his family in Louisiana, spend time with his wife, Lisa, his pooch, Scratch, and new daughter, Lillian Rose.
ANTHONY PITTS
Given the nickname Amtronie after a buddy compared this former defensive end’s 6’2” frame to an Amtrak liner, this Memphis bred musician taught himself guitar at age 10 trying to imitate his favorite Jimmy Page riffs and listening to Led Zepplin. He lives to play for people. And when he hears about fans who turn to STF music at a challenging or poignant time of their lives… now that really makes his day.
Not just another mowhawked electric guitar player throwing down manic riffs, Tronie (the nickname for the nickname) also loves to spend time with his family and chill with his long-time girlfriend, little black cat named Cash – after Johnny, naturally – and any novel by Hemingway.
DEVIN HIGHTOWER
Devin first met Surrender the Fall through Tronie, to whom he sold his first guitar amp. So when STF was on the hunt for a bass player, they didn’t have to look far. The successful reeling in of Devin was cause for celebration. And lots of shows.
Devin, also from Memphis, bought his first classical guitar for $10 at a garage sale and immediately began to teach himself off his Metallica tapes. (Pretty impressive for a then 11-year-old.) Between slapping some heavy bass in STF, Devin loves spending time with his fiancée, playing with his two Rottweiler pups, fishing, and heading to downtown Memphis to party like a champ with a healthy dose of Bloody Marys or Patron.
