Crimson Wind was formed in Palermo in December 2008 when Claudio Florio (drums) from Trinakrius & Holy Knights, and Niki Zummo (bass) decide to create a band with strong influences in Power Metal.
The founders of the band are then joined by Alessio Taormina (vocals) and Emanuele "Izzy" Bonura (guitar),and the line-up is completed with the addition of Diego Galati (keyboard) a few months later. Their first release, "The Wings of Salvation", is published in the the first few months of 2011 through IceWarrior Records for Europe and Rubicon Music for the Japanese market, where it received positive reviews by the general public. After a series of live performances in Italy and abroad, CrimsonWind prepare to record their second album, and having many ideas, the creative minds of Emanuele and Diego begin to write down the music and lyrics for the new album. Just as the band are about to write the vocals, we receive sudden bad news: our frontman, Alessio Taormina, announces he has to leave the band due and move immediately to London due to his employment. The band spends the whole of 2012 in search of a new singer that can substitute for Alessio. It proves to be no easy task, as all the singers that audition fail to reach the high notes of our previous frontman and even after a period of testing with one of the last singers, we realize he is unable fill the shoes as frontman of the band. As the band nearly reaches a point of abandoning the project, thanks to a kind friend, Izzy and Niki are given the contact information of a singer who has only been in the city for a short while and is unknown to anyone in Palermo: Guido Macaione. The audition leaves everyone in CrimsonWind with high hopes, as he executes Hold Your Dreams the best we've ever seen. After 2 weeks the band meets together and Guido tries 3 songs from our first album and a cover of Helloween (I want out). The session leaves no doubt, as the singer demonstrates a great vocal range and the technical capacity of the genre to create and record the new album "Last Poetry Line."
After the release of the second album Last Poetry line for cyprian "Pitch Black Records" (February 2015), the keyboardist Diego Galati leaves the band for personal reasons. Crimson Wind go through a period in search of a new keyboard player but they cannot find anyone. So the band decides to continue with a second guitar (Sergio Lamantia) who works in the band for about a year, participating in the memorable live in Cyprus at the Power of The Night Festival.
After Sergio leaves for personal reasons and one year of stop, the band finally finds another keyboard player, Andrea Amata. Particularly experienced in orchestral arrangements and passionate about modern metal, Andrea immediately starts composing new tracks. In 2017 Crimson Wind decides anyway to want a second guitar and the chosen one is the young brother of the singer: Enrico Macaione, who in July 2017 officially joins the band.
