Epstein was a rock band from Arnold, MD, a suburb of Annapolis.Played since 1996 to 1998. They formed in 1996 and played many shows in the Annapolis, Baltimore, DC region. Although they never set out to be an "emo band", many people would call them that after seeing them live.
Epstein released their album "Permanent Winter Headcold" under Fowl Records in the fall of 1996. They released a 2 song "36/…A Mild Retrograde" CD single under their own Silverleaf Records in early 98, and their single, The Right Hand Rule, was featured on The Emo Diaries III, The Moment of Truth, released in early 99.
Drummer Mike Gambone left the band at the end of 1997 and Epstein only played 2 shows in 1998. A second album was never released, although a few new songs were recorded live.
The Beta Unit: 1999
In 1999 Dave, Ron, and Wayne reformed the band with drummer Kevin Shook as "The Beta Unit". Kevin had played a few shows with Epstein in mid-1997 during an absence from Mike. They played only 1 live show, in January of 1999.
A new album, Nothing Crossed Counts, was recorded, but was not released on CD. A tape version was made that excluded tracks 7, 8, and 9 of the version posted on this site.
In 2000 Ron and Dave formed the band "A Rocket Sent to You" with two other friends.
