The Gnine is an alternative rock band founded in 2008 in Moscow. The band has performed in numerous clubs across Moscow and the region. In the fall of 2009 The Gnine made the runners-up at the MAXIDRIVE 2 contest, whose judging panel included an Emmaus Festival organizer, "Чайф" producer Dmitry Groisman, "Коррозия металла" producer and lead singer Sergey Troitsky, and other distinguished rock personalities.
So far The Gnine have produced two releases: the single "Огня не зажигая" and the full scale album Stubborn & Sober, released in 2012 and now available for download on iTunes and the Google Play Store.
The band members shuffled for some time, but finally The Gnine managed to find the perfect team of people, sharing the same idea of music and complementing each other: Alla Aspidova — vocals, Maksim Kachinkin — guitar, Andrey Barique — percussion, Aleksander Drozhzhin — bass.
The band finds inspiration in the amazing happenings of everyday life, hence the music saturated with sincere emotions and feeling. The band’s philosophy is all about no limits or strict rules, which is why their songs can range from powerful and heavy-sounding to melodic and peaceful. The energy in Alla Aspidova’s voice, tender and explosive at the same time, is what allows The Gnine to express all the complexity of their music. On top of that, some of the band’s songs were inspired by great authors, such as Borges and Bradbury, whereas the song Darfur contains reference to real-life events in Sudan.
The Gnine or 9G means the overload experienced by fighter pilots when performing a manoeuvre, and the band uses its music as a call to overcome the impossible and keep improving oneself no matter what.
