Lunar Onlooker's one and only release is something to behold. Its raw production and strange combinations of synths creates a very unique and mystifying art; one that can only be described as beautiful evil. Lunar Onlooker combines haunting, majestic riffs, with spectacular tortured screams and growls.
The vocals in this album really stand out. They alternate from growls, to shrieks, to screams, and sometimes, clean vocals. They fit very well with the music and are not too overdone/overproduced.
The drums are another strong point. They keep a basic, rhythmic black metal beat. The CD isn't littered with unnecessary blast beats or other annoying drum work. I'm all for blast beats (Krisiun, Nephasth, etc. m/) but it's very important that they fit with the music. I prefer black metal drums to be more on the slow side.
Overall, every song on this album is pretty well done. The riffs are catchy, and aren't overpowered by excessive distortion. An album worthy for any black metaller's collection.
