In 2012, 2 members of the Danish folk metal band Sylvatica, and in particular Thomas Haxen, started Satanic Assault Division by writing various simplistic black metal riffs, inspired by the demo tapes of early Satanic Warmaster, hence also the name reference. The duo Thomas Haxen and Martin Hamann (ex-Sylvatica) contacted Jardén Schlesinger to record the demo Erasing Religion. The result was the now controversial Erasing Religion. In late 2012 the band was contacted by a local promoter, and to the very inactive SAD's amazement, they were offered the oppurtunity to support the finnish black metal legends: Archgoat.
The band, having already planned to attend the show, accepted immediately. The duo contacted Danni Lyse Jelsgaard (Corpus Mortale, ex-Svartsot) to play drums, who in turn recommended his friend Ib Petersen. The show received very mixed reactions, but in any case it gave the band the initiative to grow more serious. Various band rehearsals and songwriting began, and in early 2013, the band hit the studio, ready to record a full-length album consisting of mostly brand new songs, but also some revamped old demo songs, rewritten to fit with Danni's trademark blast beat style. Ib Petersen left in early 2013, and the band quickly hired Michael ”Atziluth” Huhle (Blackhorned, ex-Victimer/Illnath) to play bass-guitar. During the touring in support of the band's debut, MARCH TO VICTORY, Michael left, to create more time for his rock band, Leadfreak. In his stead, Satanic Assault Division hired Helgarm of the Copenhagen Black Metallers, Fjorsvartnir.
Because of these line-up changes, fans can expect a seasoned band with an extreme and aggressive sound, that reflects the confidence and musicianship of the strongest line-up to date. March To Victory is the culmination of months of hard work, which can already be heard in the currently available song ”Blood For Ashur” which is already on YouTube for everyone to hear, and later this year, along with the rest of the album. Prepare for satanic audio madness.
