Im Yoona (born May 30, 1990), commonly known as Yoona (윤아), is a Korean singer, actress, model, and dancer. She is a member of the Korean girl group Girls' Generation and was known as the first member to join. Yoona made her debut as a singer on August 5, 2007. She had also made her debut as an actress in the 2007 Korean drama, 9 Ends 2 Outs.Im Yoona was born in Seoul, South Korea on May 30, 1990. At a young age, she auditioned at the SM Saturday Open Casting Audition and joined the company in 2002. She began to train with the other trainees under the same company in the areas of acting, singing and dancing. During her training days, Yoona appeared on some music videos of other SM artists. She was trained for 6 years before debuting as part of Girls' Generation.She is a 2009 graduate of Daeyoung High School and is currently attending Dongguk University majoring in theatre and music.
Before her debut with Girls' Generation, Yoona had been well known in the entertainment industry. She began to film commercials and model for various magazines when she was a trainee with SM Entertainment. Apart from Girls' Generation's commercials, Yoona is currently a model to endorse Clean & Clear, YeJiMin Pad, Innisfree Cosmetics and S-Oil.
Yoona, together her fellow member Sooyoung, modeled for the '08-09 F/W SFAA Seoul Collection - Lee Joo-Young Fashion Show' at Seoul Hakyohul Exhibition Hall on March 20, 2008.
In April 2010, she with fellow members Yuri and Seohyun, 2PM members Nichkhun, Taecyeon and Chansung had a CF for an commercial for Everland's Caribbean Bay. The commercial was released in mid-May.[9][10]
Yoona was chosen along with top Korean celebrities such as Rain, Kim Hee Sun, Ji Jin Hee, Ha Ji Won, Son Ye Jin, Kim Hyun Joong and Yunho to be the model of Cartier's LOVE collections. Proceeds from the sale of the bracelets will go to the International Organization IVI (International Vaccine Institute).
